* Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, special education, rehabilitative services.

* One (1) year experience in an educational or rehabilitation setting.

* Or equivalent combination of Master's degree with part-time graduate experience in field intern or assistant.
Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess:
* Masters degree preferred

* Excellent written and oral communication skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.

* Experience in developing and delivering professional presentations and workshops.

* Knowledge of laws governing the rights and responsibilities of people with disabilities.

* Experience working with individuals with a wide range of disabilities/medical conditions.

* Experience with the interpretation of psychological, educational, and/or medical documentation required for the determination of accommodations

* Experience with the use of adaptive technology and teaching/learning materials, strategies and resources to provide accommodations.

* Well-developed interpersonal skills, including ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

* Ability to relate effectively with students from a variety of backgrounds, including patience with under prepared or challenging students.

* Knowledge and understanding of the community college mission.

* Ability to use computers and applications for personal productivity.

* Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

* Strong problem solving and leadership skills.
Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.
Compensation The annual salary is $50,648 to $53,725. A competitive benefit package is included. Special Instructions to Applicants

Class Summary
This is a standalone classification. Incumbents provide specialized information, instructions, interpretation, and accommodations to support the success of students with disabilities.

Incumbents coordinate services for students with disabilities and determine necessary accommodations for accessing MCC's programs. Major duties and responsibilities include: monitoring budget; supervising, training and evaluating full-time and part-time staff; reviewing and maintaining disability documentation; evaluating student educational goals; identifying, recommending, and providing guidance for appropriate accommodations or assistive technology; consulting with faculty and staff about the recommended accommodations; and providing referral to other campus or community services as necessary.

Typical Essential Duties
* Reviews and maintains documentation of students with disabilities; work may involve requesting and reviewing psychological, medical, and/or educational reports; determining eligibility of and enrolling students for disability services; and ensuring that documents are maintained and updated in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
* Meets with students to evaluate student educational goals, and identify, recommend, and provide guidance related to accommodations or assistive technology; provides support, assistance, and information to students on an ongoing basis; and ensures that all operations are performed in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
* Coordinates with faculty, students, community services, and other internal and external personnel, departments, and agencies to provide referrals, consult, communicate information, ensure that student successfully manages responsibilities, resolve conflicts/issues, and facilitate other departmental activities.
* Supervises full-time and part-time staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; coordinating staff training; and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
* Monitors an assigned budget to include monitoring expenditures, determining student needs, and preparing budget estimates.
* Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
