Job Summary:

Job Description:

The Asphalt Laborer and Operator is responsible preparing the job site, setting up equipment and perfom manual labor such as raking, sweeping and lining out the road. The Asphalt Laborer and Operator is tasked with operating asphalt milling machines, rollers and skid steers and other equipment in th removal and installation of asphal surfaces and is responsible for routine maintenance on equipment and tools.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities & Duties:

    Inspecting machinery: Before operating asphalt machinery, checks the machinery for any issues and reports them to their supervisor
  • Uses spray paint, string, and concrete or water mixes, and lays out guidelines for curbs
  • Operates machines to spread, smooth, level, or steel-reinforce asphalt, concrete, or stone on road beds.
  • Monitors and controls temperature settings of asphalt mixture and is responsible for regulating the flow of asphalt materials.
  • Operates the equipment in a straight line at the correct speed based on truck material delivery
  • May perform general Asphalt labor duties

Physical and Environmental Specific Requirements:

  • Stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds. and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work
  • The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme heat and cold temperatures.
  • While working, the employee may be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.
  • Be willing to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed and in all weather conditions.
