Associate Chemist

MRIGlobal is seeking a highly motivated person to join our Integrated Pharmaceutical Solutions Business Unit in Kansas City, MO to serve in the Associate Chemist role. The position involves development and validation of analytical methods for the quantification of chemicals, e.g., environmental pollutants, pharmaceutical products, etc. in a variety of complex matrices. The Associate Chemist will be an integral part of our team supporting analytical crop protection, formulation, and bioanalytical laboratory activities, while gaining a thorough understanding of relevant federal and commercial programs, QA/Safety/SOPs, and analytical instrumentation.

Primary assignments will include:

  1. Contribute to all aspects of laboratory work (bench chemistry, instrumental analysis, data processing, and data reduction) related to the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods using appropriate analytical techniques (protein precipitation, liquid/liquid extraction, solid phase extraction) in combination with chromatography (GC, HPLC) instrumentation under GLP guidelines.
  2. Draft experimental write-ups using analysis plans, protocols, and standard operating procedures provided by a project leader/study director.
  3. Will be called upon to interact with internal Quality Assurance auditors, as necessary.

Education: Master's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years in Chemistry or related field

  • Effectively build and maintain positive relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization.
  • PC Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint) and ability to learn new software and systems
  • Willingness to learn and work in an FDA, EPA, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) compliant environment.
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in the following areas is preferred:
    • All aspects of chemistry laboratory work (bench chemistry, instrumental analysis, data processing, and data reduction) related to the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods using appropriate analytical techniques in combination with GC, HPLC, NMR, FT-IR, etc. instrumentation.
    • Analytical instrument troubleshooting and maintenance.
    • Experience with chromatography data systems such as Empower, ChemStation, MassHunter, and Analyst
    • Interest in bioanalytical sample extraction and analysis, methods development and troubleshooting are a plus.
