Master's degree in education administration, curriculum and instruction, student personnel, or an academic or occupational field;

Five (5) years full-time experience in a higher education leadership position



Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess:
  • Doctorate degree
  • Progressive advancement in leadership positions consistent with becoming a VP
  • 3 years of experience teaching online, providing student services online, or directing an online program
  • Leadership experience working in a complex, multi-campus community college or community college district
  • Experience with Canvas and/or other LMS operations
  • Experience with instructional technologies, including both hardware and software
  • Experience negotiating contracts related to instructional technology and/or online learning programs
  • Experience with course design and distance education quality assurance principles

Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.

Compensation Starting salary is $116,259 to $126,722. A competitive benefits package is included. Special Instructions to Applicants
This position is for the MCC-Online Campus, located at the MCC-Penn Valley Campus, Kansas City, MO. Working remotely is not applicable to this position.

Class Summary
Incumbents provide leadership and direction for academic and student services management. .

Typical Essential Duties
* Directs and oversees staff which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
* Provides leadership and oversight in directing the implementation of internal operations for academic and student services programs, to include planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards; and coordinating activities between multiple departments or functions.
* Provides leadership in the design, strategy, implementation, and assessment of goals, policies, objectives, and activities related to administrative, academic, and student services functions; work may involve reviewing and approving courses, programs, policies, and other related items; planning and assessing resource needs; contracting for services when required; and researching higher educational and student services trends and materials.
* Develops and maintains internal and external relationships; participates in/on a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, and/or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and/or other information; represents assigned academic area on committees, advocacy groups, and/or other related groups.
* Prepares and administers budgets and grants; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; reviews and approves justifications for budget items; oversees the monitoring and control of expenditures.
* Directs and reviews a variety of multi-faceted information, data, and reports; makes recommendations based on findings.
* Develops and implements strategic direction for curriculum and student service functions at the campus in alignment with district goals and guidelines.
* Develops strategic direction for college readiness programs and professional development at the campus in alignment with district goals and guidelines.

Knowledge
* Knowledge of leadership principles;
* Knowledge of program development and administration principles and practices at a College-wide level;
* Knowledge of higher education administration principles and practices;
* Knowledge of advanced principles and practices in assigned area of responsibility;
* Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes including those related to distance learning (SARA, DSS, Accessibility, etc.).
* Knowledge of budgeting principles;
* Knowledge of strategic planning principles;
* Knowledge of policy and procedure development practices.

Skills
* Skilled in directing and providing leadership to lower level staff;
* Skilled in directing, monitoring, and evaluating Collegiate policies and procedures;
* Skilled in planning, coordinating, and implementing college-wide components and activities;
* Skilled in developing, managing, and administering budgets;
* Skilled in interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations;
* Skilled in analyzing academic and administrative projects, programs, and processes for areas of improvement;
* Skilled in preparing a variety of reports;
* Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
