Join our team at Burrell Behavioral Health as a Team Leader in the ACT TAY Department in the Kansas City, Missouri area!

The ACT TAY Team Leader will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering community-based mental health services to young adults transitioning from adolescence to adulthood who have serious mental illness. Your role entails ensuring high-quality, evidence-based interventions; supervising and evaluating staff performance; developing program policies, procedures, and practices; building relationships with external partners; continuously improving client outcomes and program efficiency; prudently utilizing financial resources; promoting awareness, understanding, and support for ACT TAY; and handling crisis situations appropriately. This position will entail intensive case management services, with the team leader expected to be in an on call rotation both after hours/weekends as well as holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Oversight: The ACT Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that the team provides high-quality, evidence-based clinical interventions that meet the needs of the clients. This includes coordinating care, developing treatment plans, monitoring progress, and adjusting treatments as necessary.
  • Staff Management: The ACT Team Leader supervises and manages the team, which may include psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, substance abuse counselors, vocational specialists, and peer support specialists. They are responsible for hiring, training, evaluating performance, and addressing any staff issues or concerns.
  • Program Development: The ACT Team Leader works closely with administrators and other stakeholders to develop and implement program policies, procedures, and practices that align with best practices in assertive community treatment.
  • Collaboration: The ACT Team Leader collaborates with other service providers, including hospitals, clinics, criminal justice agencies, and housing providers, to ensure that clients receive seamless, integrated care.
  • Quality Improvement: The ACT Team Leader leads quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving client outcomes and overall program effectiveness. This includes collecting and analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, implementing changes, and measuring their impact.
  • Fiscal Management: The ACT Team Leader oversees the budget and ensures that resources are used efficiently and effectively. They may also be responsible for grant writing and fundraising to secure additional funding for the program.
  • Advocacy: The ACT Team Leader advocates on behalf of clients and the program to promote awareness, understanding, and support for assertive community treatment among policymakers, funders, and the general public.
  • Crisis Management: The ACT Team Leader responds to crises involving clients, such as suicidal ideation, violence, or hospitalization, and coordinates the team's response to ensure that clients receive timely and appropriate interventions.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling

  • Supervisory experience preferred, but not required

Preferred License/Certification (one of the following):

* Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC)

* Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

* Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW)

* Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Additional Qualifications:

* A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
